HOW THEY GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER
The four sports-loving young men got to know each other during their military service as grenadiers in Isone in 2015. The ability to work as a team, endure extreme physical and mental situations and trust in each other's abilities created a strong bond between the four young men.
After their military service, the four comrades stayed together and took part in the annual "Blue Nail" military commando and patrol competition in Denmark. Roman first learnt about the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge during the military refresher course in 2016. Two years later, he asked Jan, Samuel and Ingvar and the SWISS RAW association was founded. With no previous rowing or ocean experience, they spent three years preparing for the Atlantic Challenge. With success, as together they rowed more than 5,000 kilometres across the Atlantic from 12 December 2021 to 16 January 2022 and became the first Swiss team in history to win the race.
